Public opinion watch: New Kansas poll shows strong support for wind

A poll conducted in early February for the Great Plains Alliance for Clean Energy (GPACE) found that almost two-thirds of Kansas residents prefer that the state expand clean, renewable types of energy production like wind power and energy efficiency instead of building new coal-fired power plants.

According to the poll, 64% of those surveyed favor state efforts to develop wind energy, while only 18% favor efforts to build new coal plants. The poll was conducted by a bipartisan polling team from Public Opinion Strategies, which has extensive experience polling in Kansas, including for Republican clients.

GPACE is a Kansas non-partisan, non-profit organization that supports clean energy.
