Although the Southeastern U.S. has been portrayed as lagging badly in the race to bring renewables into play, that's simply not true, says a new report from the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy in Knoxville, Tenn. On the strength of its access to biomass, the report says, the Southeast will be able to meet a national renewable standard of at least 15% by 2015, 20% by 2020, and 25% by 2020. Renewable energy generates 4% of the region's electricity today. The report can be found at the Alliance's website, www.cleanenergy.org.
